Welcome
to the CSR Practice
Website
Corporate
Social Responsibility has historic roots in philanthropy
and ethical employment practice, but today is widely
understood as a fundamental principle for progressive,
modern organisations. The Government describes it as the
business contribution to sustainable development.
In
practice it is the voluntary actions
that business can take, over and above compliance with
minimum legal requirements, to address both its own
competitive interests and the interests of wider society.
With
issues like climate change, globalisation, technology and
seismic shifts in economic power, impacting the familiar
worlds of work, business and citizenship, many
organisations are looking to change the way they operate.
Making
sense of this is where CSR Practice can help. Some companies are just realising that from
October
2007 they will have to report on employee, social and
community activities, some are wrestling with new
standards demanded by their business customers, others are
seeing that their competitors are using new business
models based on CSR, to transform their businesses into
high performance organisations.
CSR
Practice uses a range of techniques to help
organisations both large and small to address key
questions. Why are my Stakeholders so important? Is there
a business case for ethical practices? What are the up and
coming legal requirements? Why do I need to know what my
employees think about the environment? Why am I losing
customers to an upstart “green” company?
CSR
Practice
is structured to help organisations evolve by changing
business strategy, developing employees, engaging
stakeholders, recruiting the right people.
